Privacy Policy

1 Introduction

Sukkur App (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a free local-discovery app for Sukkur city that helps you find restaurants, cafes, parks, river-view spots, shopping, family spots and hidden gems, and ask a local AI guide for recommendations. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Sukkur App, you agree to the practices described here. You can browse the app as a guest without an account; some features (saving places, writing reviews and suggesting places) require you to sign in. Feed, Reels and related social surfaces require an 18+ self-declaration and acceptance of our current Terms and Community Guidelines. Guests can accept on their device and browse; posting, liking, commenting, reposting, following, reporting and blocking require an account.

2 Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored securely and in hashed form by our authentication provider). You may optionally add a display name, username, short bio, phone number and a profile photo.

Content you create

When you’re signed in, we store the content you choose to add:

• Places you save or bookmark.
• Reviews and star ratings you write.
• New places you suggest — including the name, category, area or address, optional phone number, optional WhatsApp number, notes and an optional photo you upload.
• Public Feed posts you publish, including text, hashtags, photos, videos, comments, replies and repost commentary.
• Social choices such as likes, follows, post hides, reports and account blocks.
• For signed-in users, the time and version of your 18+ social declaration and Terms/Community Guidelines acceptance. We do not collect your birth date for this gate.

Location information

Location is optional and used only to show you nearby places and distances. We request location access only when you tap “Near me” — never automatically at startup. Your location is used on your device to sort and measure distance and is held only in memory for that session; we do not store it on our servers or keep a history of where you have been. If you deny location access, the app still works — results are simply not sorted by distance.

Search & AI queries

When you use the “Ask AI” feature, the text of your question is sent to our backend and to a third-party AI provider (see Third-party services) to generate recommendations from our own list of real places. We log AI queries (the question text and the detected intent) to operate, debug and improve the recommendation quality. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in your questions.

Notifications & device data

If you allow notifications, we register a device push token (through Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you updates about new restaurants, trending spots and announcements. You can turn notifications off at any time from your device settings or the in-app notification preferences.

Usage information

We collect basic, app-level usage events (for example, which screens and features are used) to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This is not used to build advertising profiles.

In the Community Feed, this includes post impressions, dwell time, video watch time and completion, and aggregate engagement. We use these signals to rank relevant, recent and trending posts and to reduce repeated content. Feed ranking is not used for advertising.

3 How we use your information

• To provide core features — discovery, search, saving, reviews and suggestions.
• To generate AI recommendations from our real place listings.
• To show nearby and currently-open places when you request it.
• To send notifications you have opted in to.
• To moderate community content (Feed posts, comments, Reels, reviews and place suggestions) and keep the app safe.
• To maintain, secure, debug and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4 Device permissions we request

• Location (optional) — to show nearby places and distances when you tap “Near me”.
• Notifications (optional) — to deliver updates and announcements you opt in to.
• Photos / Camera (optional) — only when you choose to upload a profile photo, Feed photo/video or a photo of a place you’re suggesting.
• Internet / network access — required to load places, images and AI recommendations.

Each permission is requested only when needed, and the app remains usable if you decline the optional ones.

5 Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage (your account, content and uploaded images). Supabase Privacy Policy.

• Google Maps — to display maps and directions. Google Privacy Policy.
• DeepSeek — the AI provider that helps generate recommendations from the text of your “Ask AI” questions. DeepSeek.

6 How we share data

We share information only as needed to run the app: with the service providers listed above (acting on our behalf), and where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users. Content you choose to make public — such as your public profile, Feed posts, comments, reposts, Reels, reviews and approved place suggestions — is visible to other users of the app. Public posts may be reported and reviewed under our Community Guidelines. We never sell your personal data.

7 Data retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Location data is never retained on our servers.

Unfinished Feed upload sessions normally expire after 24 hours. Media for deleted posts is scheduled for permanent removal after a short operational retention window (normally within 7 days). Abuse reports may be retained only as long as needed for safety, dispute handling or legal obligations.

• Access & update — view and edit your profile and content from within the app.
• Delete or control content — delete your Feed posts, remove saved places and reviews, hide posts, report content, and manage blocked users from within the app.
• Control permissions — turn location, photos or notifications on or off from your device settings.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access-control rules on our database so that you can only access your own private data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.

11 Children’s privacy

The local discovery catalogue can be browsed generally, but Feed, Reels, public social profiles, connections and comments are designed only for adults aged 18 or older. We store a versioned confirmation that a signed-in user accepted the adult social gate; guests keep the equivalent choice only on their device. We do not collect a birth date for this check. If you believe a child has used a social surface or provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete data where appropriate.

12 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated in the app. Your continued use of Sukkur App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
